Flat Wave Reactor

A flat wave reactor is a device used to reduce harmonic currents and voltages in a power system. It is mainly used to control and filter harmonics to maintain normal operation of the power system and improve power quality.

Harmonic Problem: In a power system, non-linear loads (such as arc furnaces, inverters, electronic equipment, etc.) introduce harmonic currents and voltages. These harmonics will cause distortion of current and voltage in the power system, increase the energy loss of the system, reduce efficiency, and even cause interference and damage to other equipment and power supply.

Function of Flat Wave Reactor: A flat wave reactor is used to suppress harmonic currents and voltages to keep them within acceptable limits. It reduces the impact of harmonics on the power system by providing an impedance opposite to the harmonic currents and voltages to cancel out the effects of the harmonics and direct them to ground or other suitable equipment.

Composition and principle of operation: A leveling reactor usually consists of an inductor and a capacitor that form a resonant circuit. The inductor has a high impedance in the low frequency range, while the capacitor has a low impedance in the high frequency range. This combination gives the flat wave reactor a high impedance to harmonics of a specific frequency, thus enabling the filtering of harmonics.

Types of Flat Wave Reactors: Depending on the application requirements and harmonic frequencies, flat wave reactors can be categorized into passive and active types. Passive flat reactors are fixed-parameter filters that are suitable for harmonics of a specific frequency. Active flat wave reactors, on the other hand, can automatically adjust their parameters according to the actual situation and can be used for harmonic filtering at multiple frequencies.

Deployment and Configuration: Flat wave reactors are usually installed on the load side of the power system or next to critical equipment. They can be installed alone or in combination with other filters (e.g., harmonic filters, harmonic isolation transformers, etc.) to achieve better harmonic control.

Flat wave reactors play an important role in power systems, helping to minimize the impact of harmonics on the power system and maintaining power quality. By correctly selecting and configuring flat wave reactors, harmonic currents and voltages can be reduced to improve system reliability, stability and efficiency.
