How to Tin Enameled Wire

Enameled wire tinning treatment is usually used electrolytic tinning and hot dip tinning two methods. I will introduce the process of these two methods in detail:

  1. Electrolytic tinning
Electrolytic tinning is the enameled wire through the electrolytic tinning equipment, immersed in the electrolyte containing tin salts and other additives, through the action of the current on the surface of the enameled wire deposited a thin layer of tin. The process flow of electrolytic tinning is as follows:

Step 1: Surface treatment. Enameled wire in the tin plating treatment before the need for surface treatment, remove surface oil, oxides and other impurities, to ensure the adhesion and quality of the plating layer. Surface treatment methods include oil removal, pickling, neutralization after pickling, water washing and drying.

Step 2: electrolyte preparation. Preparation of electrolyte containing tin salts, additives and auxiliaries to ensure that the concentration of components in the electrolyte, temperature and flow rate and other parameters in line with the process requirements.

Step 3: electrolytic tin plating. Surface-treated enameled wire is suspended in the electrolytic bath, and a thin layer of tin is deposited on the surface of the enameled wire by the action of the electric current. Tin ions in the electrolytic solution are reduced to metallic tin in the electrolysis process, and a layer of tin is formed on the surface of the enameled wire.

Step 4: Cleaning and drying. The tinned enameled wire is removed from the electrolyzer, cleaned and dried to remove any residual electrolyte and moisture from the surface.

  1. Hot-dip tinning

Hot-dip tinning is to immerse the enameled wire in molten tin solution to deposit a layer of tin on its surface, and then cooled by air to form a uniform layer of tin. The process of hot-dip tinning is as follows:

Step 1: Surface treatment. Enameled wire needs surface treatment before tinning treatment to remove surface oil, oxides and other impurities to ensure the adhesion and quality of the plating layer.

Step 2: Molten tin liquid treatment. Prepare molten tin solution to ensure that its temperature and composition meet the process requirements.

Step 3: Hot dip tin plating. Dip the surface-treated enameled wire into the molten tin solution and let a tin layer be deposited on its surface. The immersion time depends on the thickness of the tin layer and the diameter of the enameled wire.

Step 4: Cooling and cleaning. The soaked enameled wire is removed from the tin solution and cooled by air to form a uniform layer of tin. Then it is cleaned and dried to remove the residual tin liquid and moisture on the surface.

In conclusion, tinning of enameled wires improves their corrosion resistance and solderability. Electrolytic tinning and hot dip tinning two methods can be realized tinning treatment, the specific choice of which method should be based on the production requirements, process conditions and costs and other aspects of comprehensive consideration.
