In this process, electricity is transmitted over high-voltage transmission lines to reduce power losses and to ensure that voltage and current stability is maintained over long distances. It constitutes the overall function of the power system, together with substation, distribution and consumption. Transmission connects power plants and load centers that are far apart (up to several kilometers), allowing the development and utilization of electrical energy beyond geographical limits. Compared with the transmission of other energy sources (e.g., coal, oil, etc.), power transmission is less lossy, more efficient, flexible and convenient, easier to regulate, and less environmentally polluting;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Transmission can also connect power plants in different locations and implement peak and valley regulation. Power transmission is an important manifestation of the superiority of electrical energy utilization, and it is an important energy artery in modern society. Transmission lines can be divided into overhead transmission lines and underground transmission lines according to their structural forms. The former consists of line towers, wires, insulators, etc., and is erected on the ground; the latter mainly uses cables and is laid underground (or underwater). Transmission can be divided into DC transmission and AC transmission according to the nature of the current sent. 1880s first successfully achieved DC transmission, later due to the limitations of the voltage is not high (transmission capacity is roughly proportional to the square of the transmission voltage) late 19th century for AC transmission replaced. By the 1990s, countries around the world commonly used transmission voltage of 220 kV and the following high-voltage transmission, 330 ~ 765 kV of ultra-high voltage transmission, 1000 kV and above of ultra-high voltage transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The process of electricity transmission can be divided into three main stages: high-voltage transmission, transformer step-up and distribution to consumers. In the high-voltage transmission stage, electricity will be transported from the power station to the transformer station through high-voltage transmission lines. At the transformer station, the power is stepped up through the transformer in order to reduce energy losses during transmission.
